Hobson’s Bay Cup, round 6

Round 6 of this event went mostly according to rating. Daniel could not play his game against David so David got the point. But in a slightly unusual twist, they are now scheduled to play each other in round 7, since their round 6 game didn’t happen, and David, even with the extra point, was still the best pairing for the last round. Crazy stuff!

I was playing next to Daniel/Matthew in round 2. It looked like Matthew was pushing Daniel hard, and he did have 2R and Ps vs Daniel’s Q+P. But it seemed like one too many pawn grabs cost Matthew in the end, as Daniel’s pawn became a monster. Results went mostly according to rating, although Sergey had a win over Ruben.

The middle round of the Purdy Cup produced some interesting results. Tony had an equal game with Daniel; Cameron and Max beat their higher rated opponents. Only Nathan and David are undefeated after 3 rounds. Also, please inform Steven before the Tuesday if you cannot make it!
