Hobsons Bay Cup – final standings
The round 7 results are below, with the final standings as well. Congrats to Dean winning this event, with a final round draw against Cijo.
From our illustrious President: Next week will be a lightning event, following by the commencement of the Western Masters the following week. For players new to the club this year, the Western Masters is a unique event in our calendar. Running over 5 weeks, players will be split into groups of 6 based on rating, and will play each other players in their group in separate tournaments. This provides each and every competitor with a strong chance of winning a rated event, and provides 5 games against opponents of a similar rating.

Chess Book Borrowing Library
We now have a small collection of chess books, available to borrow for free. The aim is to read it, then return it (no hoarding please!). Books will be kept with the equipment. Feel free to add to the collection – come on, you must have some books you no longer need/read?

Chess paused…
Just a quick note to say that we are paused from chess for 2 weeks, at this stage. So no chess on the 1st and 8th June.
From our President:
The current tournament will continue to remain 7 rounds. Myself and the committee will work through adjusting the calendar to accommodate the number of weeks we lose.
In addition to staying physically safe, myself and the committee also hope you each are doing well mentally during lockdown. Hoping we will be able to re-commence soon.
